The Cumbria Chamber of Commerce have a range of support for their members and CMS has been working in partnership within Cumbria over the last 4 years.
From August 2009 we have, in consortium, an Intensive Start Up Support programme (ISUS) in the Boroughs of Carlisle and Copleland in Cumbria. A consortium of Cumbria Chamber of Commerce, SECOD , Wingspan and CMS joined to support growth of new business start and up to 3 years of trading . SECOD , Wingspan and CMS supporting Social Enterprise and the Chamber supporting all other types of business.
The new support programme details are as follows:- for Social Enterprises in Cumbria and the North West from September 2009 for 3 years with free advice and intensive assistance (in addition to that provided by Business Link Northwest) for under represented individuals to help start their own Social Enterprise or Coop business. Provides help and ongoing support from six months pre start up of trading to 36 months post start-up including:-
- Personalised support from an adviser, coach or mentor to overcome specific barriers
- One-to-many workshops covering the range of business issues encountered at start-up.
Eligibility-Prioritised based on locality and the needs of the individual. This includes, but is not restricted to, women, people with disabilities and black and minority ethnic communities.
Business Link Northwest will provide guidance regarding eligibility.
